Week 6 was probably the most exciting slate of games we've seen this season, both across the country and in the SEC. The SEC's biggest winners were LSU, Alabama, and Georgia, while Kentucky was by far the week's biggest loser. It's possible that the Wildcats just caught the Bulldogs at the wrong time, as this was the type of Georgia team we've been expecting to see all year.
Only one unbeaten team remains in the conference after losses from both Kentucky and Missouri, and it feels like we're starting to get a better read on each team as we approach the halfway point of the season. Ryne and I have continued our new trend of ranking each SEC team, which can be viewed below. We've also tracked our week-to-week changes in the right most column. Jacob is only going to provide his rankings every few weeks.
Alex just holds a one game overall lead over Micah, as the two are dead even on both their money line and over/under picks. However, Alex expressed to me that he doesn't have much confidence in any of his selections for this week, so we'll see if he remains our leader after this Saturday.
There should be at least three evenly matched contests among the six SEC games this week. Texas A&M/Tennessee, Florida/South Carolina, and Missouri/Kentucky all have spreads of 3.5 or less and are massive games for each team involved. Georgia will get what should be an easy game against Vanderbilt and Alabama may not struggle too much against Arkansas.
I will actually be in Baton Rouge on Saturday to watch LSU take on Auburn in Death Valley. It will be my first time in both the state and the stadium, so I'm excited to see how it compares to Neyland Stadium in Knoxville, the environment I'm most accustomed to. I'll report back on my opinions in next week's article. Best of luck to everyone's teams and bets in Week 7 of the college football season.
