Week 5's biggest winners in the SEC were Kentucky, Ole Miss, and Tennessee. The Wildcats pummeled Florida for their third straight victory over the Gators. The Rebels got a monster win against LSU in the most exciting SEC game of the season so far. And the Vols got their revenge on the team who knocked them out of CFP contention last season in convincing fashion.
Before we get to our picks for Week 6, Jacob, Ryne, and I decided to start ranking the SEC 1 through 14 for how we think each team stacks up against each other. These are based on a combination of win/loss record, head-to-head matchups, strength of schedule, and the eye test up to this point in the season. Our separate rankings are listed below. Let us know in the comments whose rankings you agree with most and what you think we got wrong about your team.
The true quality of some teams is still a little cloudy if you ask me, as no team has really stuck out as clearly better than the rest. But we'll get a much better feel for a lot of the conference's teams in Week 6, headlined by three big matchups: #23 LSU at #21 Missouri, #11 Alabama at Texas A&M, and #20 Kentucky at #1 Georgia. Keep reading to see our picks for those games as well as the other three on the schedule.
Alex still holds a lead in our season long challenge as we approach the halfway point, but Micah is right on his heels. Ryne and I are battling for the third spot as of now and Jacob is bringing up the rear. We'll see if we experience much change to the leaderboard after the six SEC games this week.
#23 LSU at #21 Missouri (LSU -6.5, O/U 63.5)
Western Michigan at Mississippi State (MSU -20.5, O/U 57.0)
#11 Alabama at Texas A&M (ALA -2.5, O/U 48.5)
Vanderbilt at Florida (FLA -18.5, O/U 52.0)
#20 Kentucky at #1 Georgia (UGA -14.5, O/U 48.0)
Arkansas at #16 Ole Miss (MISS -11.5, O/U 63.0)
