The Final Four is officially set after a rather anticlimactic day of Elite Eight contests on Sunday.
Again, we saw zero upsets on the day, with the 1-seeds winning with relative ease. (1) Houston dismantled (2) Tennessee from the tip, opening a big lead early in the first half and never relinquishing it en route to a 19-point victory. Similarly, (1) Auburn jumped out on (2) Michigan State and held on for a comfortable win despite a 2nd half injury to star forward Johni Broome.
As a result, Houston and Auburn will join Florida and Duke in San Antonio next weekend for a Final Four consisting exclusively of 1-seeds. It's only the second time in tournament history that all four 1-seeds have made it to the Final Four. It should be a thrilling weekend as these four teams were the consensus best teams in the country entering the tournament.
Tennessee's loss was very damaging to a lot of the brackets in the Mega March Madness Matchup Monstrosity, as ten of our applicants had the Vols in their Final Four and four brackets picked them to win it all. Here's how our leaderboard looks like just three games left to play in the tournament.
The path to victory for most of our brackets has been eliminated at this point, with only five brackets standing with a chance to win our grand prize. Those five brackets are listed in black in the graphic below.
If you're one of the potential victors and are trying to calculate what needs to happen for you to win, look no further than the following graphic.
McSupportiveWife is clearly in the driver's seat, as they will win in four of the eight possible scenarios that we could see in the Final Four. Four other brackets each have one path to a win and will be rooting for very specific scenarios to allow them to collect $100.
The Final Four tips off on Saturday evening with the championship game to follow on Monday night. We'll be back with an update Sunday to set the stage for the national championship. If you've already been eliminated from contention, thank you for participating in the 4th Annual BSSRMMMMM and we hope to see you in the field next year as well. For those still with a chance at glory or anyone interested to see who takes home the crown, stay tuned for the final two updates next week. Written by Nick Swatson
